Important! Instructions for Using the Foam Sponge for Baking Polymer Clay
-
Material purpose
This foam is originally a technical material designed for sound insulation. It is not food-safe and should be used only for hobby and craft purposes. -
Temperature range
-
The material can withstand temperatures up to 110–130 °C (230–265 °F).
-
Do not exceed this limit — at higher temperatures, the foam may begin to degrade.
-
-
Smoke and odor
-
During baking, a small amount of smoke or odor may appear.
-
This is normal, but make sure the room is well-ventilated.
-
-
Oven use guidelines
-
Do not place the foam directly on a solid metal tray. It’s better to put it on an oven rack.
-
To reduce heat from the rack bars, you can place a layer of foil underneath.
-
If your oven is small and the heating elements are too close, make a protective “roof” from foil above the sponge.
-
Wait until the oven has fully preheated and the temperature is stable before placing the sponge inside, as ovens often overshoot the set temperature during heating.
-
-
Safety tips
-
Use only for crafts, not for food.
-
Do not exceed 130 °C (265 °F).
-
Always ventilate the room during baking.
